Andrea Bocelli's Abu Dhabi date on 2 December 2026 is played indoors, at Etihad Arena — the covered, air-conditioned hall that opened on Yas Island in 2021 and holds around 18,000 people. For a voice carried by a full orchestra, a roof and closed walls matter: the sound is not lost to the wind, and the evening does not depend on the weather.

The arena keeps a full calendar through the year — concerts, live shows and major sporting events all pass through it — and the hall is set up afresh for every production. The organiser presents the evening as the opening night of the Yasalam Classics series, held during the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix week. That timing shapes the practical side of the trip more than anything else here: the island is at its busiest that week.

The arena faces the water at Yas Bay Waterfront, the strip of restaurants and promenade on the southern shore of Yas Island. The island is a leisure district on the north-eastern fringe of the capital; from the arena, the Grand Prix circuit, the theme parks and Yas Mall are a few minutes away by car.

By road the arena is about 30 km from downtown Abu Dhabi, and Abu Dhabi International Airport lies on the mainland directly opposite the island — a short transfer for anyone flying in. Dubai is connected by the E11 motorway.

Evenings in early December are around 19 °C outside. Inside, the hall is cooled, and by the end of a long concert many people find it cooler than the street — a shawl or light jacket is worth bringing.

Abu Dhabi has no metro, so the choice is between a taxi, your own car and whatever event buses are announced. Because the concert falls in Grand Prix week, the roads onto the island carry race-week traffic as well as the concert audience; build in extra time, especially when coming from Dubai.

• Taxi or app — metered city taxis, Careem and Uber all serve Yas Bay; ask for Etihad Arena as the drop-off. After the final encore the pick-up zones fill at once, so expect a wait
• Driving — car parks serve the Yas Bay Waterfront around the arena. When a full hall empties, the exits clear slowly, so leave a margin before any late dinner booking
• Event buses — for Grand Prix week and large concerts, extra buses are often put on to Yas Island. Routes and times are published by Yas Island and the organiser shortly before the date

Aim to reach the doors an hour before the programme begins. At classical concerts latecomers are often held outside until a suitable pause, so arriving early is the difference between hearing the opening and waiting in the foyer.

Bars, cafés and food counters inside the building open for events, and the waterfront restaurants next door are an option before the concert. Paying by bank card or phone is the norm in Abu Dhabi. Toilets and accessible facilities are spread through the arena; if you need step-free entry or a wheelchair space, arrange it with the organiser for this specific date.

Everyone passes a bag check at the entrance. Leave large bags, food and drink from outside and cameras with detachable lenses at the hotel; the organiser publishes the definitive list and the bag-size limit for the date, and it overrides any general advice.

With the concert in Grand Prix week, hotel rooms on Yas Island and across the capital fill early, so book as soon as your tickets are confirmed. Staying in the city centre rather than on the island is a sensible trade-off: the drive back after the concert is about 30 km.

A spare day goes well on the island's theme parks — Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi — or in town, at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, along the Corniche and at Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island.
